Children's Champion Awards Breakfast

While working for a non-profit in Flint, I helped put together our largest event of the year: Our 30th annual Children's Champion Awards Breakfast. This event pulls together over 900 members of the community who are actively working towards making Genesee County a better place for the youth who live there. For the 30th anniversary, we took it back to when the breakfast began in 1995 with a 90's theme.

Logo Creation

The logo for the breakfast event was designed to mirror the Voices for Children Advocacy Center brand. For the 30th anniversary celebration, I created a special logo that blended elements from both the Voices logo and the Children's Champion Awards logo. This approach allowed us to establish a cohesive event brand that could be used consistently across all platforms, creating immediate recognition and a unified visual identity.

Sponsorship guide

As a nonprofit, our events rely entirely on the generosity of our sponsors. To support the 30th anniversary celebration, I designed a sponsorship guide inspired by the bold, nostalgic aesthetic of 1990s People magazine. The guide was formatted as a folded booklet and mailed directly to potential sponsors, offering a visually engaging and memorable experience that stood out from traditional fundraising materials.

Flyers and Social Media

To promote the event, I developed a series of social media posts and printed flyers announcing key milestones such as the event date, ticket sales, and nomination openings. As the event approached, I maintained consistent communication with our audience through regular updates and reminders, ensuring sustained engagement and visibility across platforms.

Nominee Certificates

Each of our 106 nominees was honored with a custom certificate. Designed to complement the colorful 90s aesthetic used throughout the event branding, the certificates — like all other event materials — incorporated a playful, childlike element to reflect the spirit of the celebration.

PowerPoint

I created two PowerPoint presentations for the event. The first played on a continuous loop before the program began, showcasing all nominees, awards, and sponsors. The second was designed to accompany the live event, highlighting speakers, nominees, winners, awards, and sponsors in real time. Both presentations carried the event’s playful, childlike spirit, featuring vibrant 90s-inspired colors and abstract design elements consistent with the overall branding.

Other Events Items

Since joining Voices for Children as an event planner, I've had the opportunity to bring our events and everyday outreach to life through custom graphic design. From event branding to social media content, each piece was crafted to capture the heart of our mission. Below are a few highlights of that work.
